What you need for a wonderful day on the yacht
The yacht is available at Nafplio this year. You can bring your family and firends, a swim suit and towel, your sun cream, sunglasses, camera, mobile phone etc. Food and drink is provided. You don't need to bring any. But you must have a passport or ID number because it is required for the formalities...
You don't need to have any previous experience. Beginners and children are always welcome. Our day at sea is a condenced sailing course.
Our program
It is wise to at least call on the day before you intend to come to make sure there is room for you on the day. If you are already in the area it is better still that you come round to the yacht in the harbour to be included in the passenger manifest.
Embarkation is at 10 in the morning on the day and after a few explanations you can stow your things inside the yacht and we are ready to sail away. We pull our anchor up and as soon as we are clear of the port we set sail, we turn off the motor and set our course.
Our destination is decided on the day depending on the wind strength and direction. The idea is to make our sail interesting and comfortable.
We sail for two - three hours which is time enough for everyone to have a go at steering the yacht and to learn about setting and trimming the sails. Also it is time enough to get to a nice sheltered bay with clear water for our swim.
Coming out of the sea you find lunch ready on the deck. We eat, sunbathe or not and relax for a while before setting off for our harbour where we normally return by 6 in the afternoon using our sails of course. In fact we only use our motor for manoeuvring unless there is a compelling reason such as a really windless patch.
The cost
for all this is only 80 Euro per person. This includes your contribution to the yacht charter, the skipper fees, fuel, port dues, taxes (VAT) lunch and drinks. You have nothing else to pay for. It is an all inclusive price.
The sailing lesson
During the whole trip I will be explaining as much as you can absorb so that you end up having a fairly good idea of what sailing is about. In fact I allow you to do everything needed while I'm always there in case of difficulties. So you get a lesson in basic sailing theory and practice. At the end of the day you will have quite a good idea about it.
If you are past the beginner stage I would be happy to discuss anything more advanced that you want to know about.
